A groom-to-be has won £25,000 after entering an online competition in a bid to part-fund his wedding.

Tommy Bendall, from Slough, signed up to Best of the Best, an online competition offering cash prizes and luxury cars, just weeks earlier.

The company automatically enters its members into competitions when they are announced.

Mr Bendall found out he had won after he received a call from the company's presenter, Christian Williams, while carrying out home pricing jobs.

On receiving the news, he said: "Wow, amazing.

"I’ve only been playing for a few weeks.

"I saw a few clips online of people who had the BOTB Pass winning so I thought why not and here I am."

He said the win came at the perfect time as he and his fiancée prepare for their big day.

He said: "We’re currently saving for our wedding so I’m sure it will go towards that.

"I’m sure she’ll be as shocked as I am when I tell her."

Presenter Mr Williams said: "Tommy was completely caught off guard while just getting on with his day at home.

"To win £25,000 just a few weeks after starting to play is incredible, and you could immediately tell how much the timing meant to him with his wedding coming up.

"It’s a fantastic prize, and hopefully it helps make their big day even more special."

BOTB, founded in 1999, has given away prizes to more than 548,000 people, including £153m-worth of cars.

The company currently offers the chance to win a luxury four-bedroom home in south London worth £1.3m.
