Dogs of all shapes, sizes, and personalities are being celebrated by Battersea Dogs & Cats Home as they search for loving new families.
The much-loved animal charity has been providing shelter and second chances to dogs since 1860, and this National Dog Day (August 26) it has shined a light on some of the unique characters currently in its care.
Laura Alwen, rehoming and welfare manager at Battersea, said: "There's no such thing as a typical Battersea dog.
"Every rescue who comes into our care has their own personality, preferences, and quirks.
"Our expert teams take the time to get to know each individual dog, so we can give them the best possible care while they're with us and build a picture of the type of home and family where they'd thrive."
Lula
Lula is a seven-month-old Husky cross with endless energy and affection.
She is described as a 'gorgeous' pup who loves everyone and is looking for a home where she can receive plenty of exercise, attention, and continued training.
Buster
Buster is an older Staffy cross who prefers a quieter life.
He enjoys gentle walks and a calm environment where he can relax and enjoy his golden years in comfort.
Peggy and Pat
Peggy and Pat are a bonded pair of one-year-old Chihuahua crosses.
The sisters are inseparable and rely on each other for comfort.
Peggy is the more outgoing of the two, while Pat is more reserved.
With understanding owners, they are expected to flourish into loving companions.
Georgie Best
Georgie Best is a five-year-old Greyhound with a playful side.
He enjoys kicking a football around, receiving attention, and spending time with people.
A secure garden and quiet walking routes would help him build confidence and settle into home life.
Willow
Willow is a three-year-old Portuguese Podengo cross with "boundless enthusiasm."
She loves meeting new people and is looking for experienced owners who can provide plenty of exercise, enrichment, and adventure.
Ms Alwen added: "National Dog Day is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate just how different each of our canine residents can be, and to introduce some of the brilliant characters currently looking for homes.
"If you're considering welcoming a dog into your life, your perfect match could be waiting at a rescue like Battersea."
