Six Berkshire and Thames Valley restaurants have reached the shortlist for this year’s Asian Curry Awards.

Caversham Tandoori and Chilis South Indian, both in Reading, are among the finalists. They are joined by Chor Bazaar in Slough, Crispy Dosa in Windsor, Kohinoor in Bracknell and Masala Maiden in Maidenhead.

The shortlist was announced on Friday, October 9, for the awards, which are run by the Asian Catering Federation (ACF).

Restaurants and takeaways from across the UK are included in the list. Judges from the ACF, including some of the world's leading chefs and restaurateurs, will meet over the next few weeks to discuss the entries and decide the winners.

The winners will be announced at a gala dinner and presentation at Grosvenor House Hotel in Mayfair, London, on Sunday, November 15. BBC news anchor Samantha Simmonds will host the event and will be joined by Anisa Khan, the 2025 runner-up in the BBC television programme The Apprentice, to present the awards.

Last year, 46 awards were presented. More awards are expected this year, including Asian Chef of the Year, Curry King, and Lifetime Achievement and Legacy Awards.

The latter awards recognise people for their charity work and efforts to improve standards across the industry.

The awards cover a range of Asian and Oriental cuisines. These include Bangladeshi, Burmese, Chinese, Filipino, Indian, Indonesian, Japanese, Korean, Malaysian, Middle Eastern, Pakistani, Singaporean, Sri Lankan, Thai, Turkish and Vietnamese food.

Yawar Khan, chairman of the Asian Catering Federation, said: “The Asian Curry Awards set the standard for excellence across all aspects of our industry. We celebrate with the best of the best and are delighted to see the public voting increase year-on-year.

"Alongside the excellent cuisine we champion with these awards, we also take time to celebrate the achievements of individuals and recognise the generous contributions they make to their communities through their charitable giving and their time. I look forward to meeting all the finalists in Mayfair on Sunday 15 November to present these awards.”

The 16th Asian Curry Awards and Asian Catering Federation Gala Dinner is sponsored by Cobra Beer, Kingfisher Beer and Work Permit Cloud Ltd.

The event is organised by the ACF, which represents 35,000 caterers in the UK. Together, those businesses generate more than £60 billion for the UK economy.

The awards recognise restaurants, takeaways and individuals across the sector. Finalists will now await the judges’ decisions before the ceremony in Mayfair, where the winners will be announced.
