A man has been arrested and charged after police seized a 'zombie knife and stun gun' in Berkshire.

Police arrested the 25-year-old man in the Maidenhead South area this week.

The man is alleged to have been in possession of drugs, a zombie knife, and a 'stun gun' and has been remanded.

It comes as local officers teamed up with the force's Neighbourhood Disruption Team in the town to 'target those causing the greatest harm to our community'.

The arrest came alongside a separate incident which saw a man charged and remanded on suspicion of drug possession and possessing a bladed article.

That individual has now been recalled to prison.

A number of vehicles were also seized across the town for no insurance, while several others were dealt with for drug offences.

In a post on social media, the force said: "Nobody has any reason to be carrying items such as these in our communities.

"Alongside our enforcement activity, we have continued to work closely with and support our local faith groups, listening to concerns, strengthening relationships and helping ensure that everyone feels safe and supported within our communities.

"Our PCSO team also identified a male wanted on three counts of conspiracy to commit burglary, who was promptly nicked by officers from the Armed Response Unit.

"This week's message is simple: if you choose to carry a knife in Maidenhead, you'll get nicked and find yourself facing a judge.

"We will continue to target those carrying weapons, dealing drugs and causing harm in our communities, while working alongside residents, businesses and faith groups to keep Maidenhead a safe place to live, work and visit."

The force has also recently secured a partial closure order in the west of the town, as well as two other orders in the south in a bid to tackle anti-social behaviour.
