People are being urged to use LED candles and attend organised firework displays to stay safe during autumn celebrations.
Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue Service (RBFRS) is reminding residents to celebrate Halloween, Diwali, and Bonfire Night safely, especially during Candle Fire Safety Week, which runs from October 26 to November 1.
Paul Scott, prevention manager at RBFRS, said: "Candles, decorations, fireworks, and bonfires are widely used to celebrate at this time of year, and we want you to enjoy these celebrations.
"The safest option is to use LED or battery-operated candles instead of real candles, particularly around children, pets, costumes, and decorations."
In 2025/26, there were 844 candle-related fires recorded in England.
Mr Scott said that if people choose to use real candles, they should never be left unattended and should be kept well away from anything flammable.
He also advised attending organised firework displays rather than setting off fireworks at home.
