Two new deputy lieutenants have been appointed to represent Berkshire.

James Astor and Kirsten Willis-Drewett BEM will support the Lord Lieutenant of Berkshire, Andrew Try, in his official duties representing the King across the county.

Mr Try said: "I am delighted to welcome James and Kirsten as new Deputy Lieutenants serving His Majesty The King and the County of Berkshire.

"I extend my warmest congratulations to them both on receiving this honour and look forward to working with them over the coming years."

Deputy lieutenants play a key role in supporting the Lord Lieutenant’s work as the King’s personal representative in the county.

They are expected to support public and emergency services, and the armed forces, as well as encourage cooperation among charitable and voluntary organisations.

Deputy lieutenants are also encouraged to take an active interest in the commercial, social, and spiritual life of Berkshire.

These latest appointments coincide with Mr Try’s third anniversary as Lord Lieutenant.
