Fantasy author Cliff McNish brought real magic into the lives of pupils at Datchet St Mary Church of England Primary School last week.

Mr McNish specialises in fantasy and supernatural novels for young adults. He was described by the Times as ‘one of our most talented thriller writers’ and his first set of novels the Doomspell Trilogy is published in 26 languages worldwide.

Head of English Naomi Corcoran at Datchet St Mary said Mr McNish had spent the whole weeks working with the children at the school, which is on the Green.

She said: "Mr McNish spent all week with the different classes. They were inspired by him and enjoyed writing their own stories with him."

Mr McNish has won numerous awards for his work. His 2006 ghost novel Breathe was voted in May 2013 as one of the top 100 adult and children’s novels of all time by the Schools Network of British Librarians.
