A founder member of Slough, Windsor and Maidenhead Soroptimists was remembered with a one minute silence at first meeting of the year.

Pamela Robotham helped start the club in 1961 and was made a life member in 2008 on her 80th birthday.

She was president on two occasions and an active member to the end.

The meeting was chaired by Pamela Bailey.

The guest speaker was Dave Bullock who spoke about Windsor Street Angels and told members about the valuable work carried out by the volunteers on a Friday and Saturday night on the streets of Windsor.

The Soroptimists' Spring Quiz will be held on Friday, March 9 at St Luke's Community Hall, Maidenhead at 7.30pm Teams of up to eight or single players are invited to join in the fun.

Speakers include Irene Cockcroft, a writer/lecturer and expert on Women's Suffrage, Sarbit Athwal, founder of the charity True Honour, Dr Rowan Hillson MBE, former National Clinical Director for Diabetes and Liz Beckman, an Electrical and Electronic Engineer.
