THE IMPRESSIVE home form of Burnham continued with a heated 2-0 win over local rivals Beaconsfield SYCOB on Tuesday night.

It was Burnham's fifth home win on the bounce at The Gore since they were stunned by Sutton Coldfield Town - the only side to triumph at Burnham this season - back in November.

"We are getting back to clean sheets which is excellent," said boss Jamie Jarvis. "Take the Hitchin game out and the Sutton Coldfield match which was a freak when we had players sent off and we hardly concede any goals.

"It was an excellent performance and we deserved to win." Denis Fennemore gave the Blues the points as he hit two, making it eight goals in his last seven league outings, to move Burnham into second place.

The home side were on top in the first half as Fennemore blazed over early on but he did give them the lead in the ninth minute when a ball from strike partner Ryan Bird picked him out and he produced a deadly turn and finish to beat Chris Baker at his far post.

Midway through the half the SYCOB keeper did deny Fennemore when he was clear but the advantage was doubled in the 33rd minute in superb style. Paul Coyne found Fennemore who threaded a pass through to Stuart Swift and he gave it quickly back to the striker to finish from 20 yards.

After the break, Burnham saw red twice when following a melee in which Bird was on the deck with a SYCON player over the top of him, Ross Lafayette was shown a red card and minutes later Blues captain Paul Brett was shown a red card for a professional foul on Trevor Charlery.

However, the Rams could not make the most of the numerical advantage in the last half hour as Burnham defended resolutely. The best chance came when John Swift forced Paul McCarthy to push the ball round the post.
