NOMINATIONS can now be made for the prestigious Donal Wade and Tony Ellis Awards.

Originally part of the Mayor of Slough's sports awards, the honours recognise achievement by people with a disability.

The Donal Wade Award celebrates the life of Donal Wade who was dedicated toward supporting young people in sport.

The award is given to someone with a disability. The individual may not be a sports performer but has primarily given time to enable others with a disability to have a better opportunity to take part in sport or recreation at any level.

The Donal Wade Award was established in 2000 and winners to date have received some fantastic prizes.

The Wade family wish this particular award to continue and will carry on fund raising to support local groups where appropriate.

The Tony Ellis Award recognises achievement in sport by a person with a disability.

Previous winners have ranged from Paralympic athletes to local people who had achieved within their communities.

Ellis who dedicated so much of his life to local sport, sadly passed away in 2010 and his family are also keen to ensure that the award continues.

The Ellis family also fund raise each year to ensure that not only the winner receives a deserving prize but also appropriate local disability groups receive funding.
