ALAN Paris admits that Burnham must stop giving themselves a mountain to climb in order to improve in the Hellenic Premier Division this season.

The Blues remain fourth from bottom in the league table after a 3-1 defeat away at Binfield on Monday.

Goals from Ian Davies and Charlie Tuttle gave Binfield at clear lead at the break, but Burnham pulled one back two minutes after half-time at Hill Farm Lane.

The home side secured the points when Sean Moore added a third goal midway through the second half.

Blues boss Paris told the Observer: “We didn’t give ourselves a good start when conceding a goal in the first few minutes. We’re just giving ourselves an uphill battle at the moment.

“We came out the blocks well in the second half. We were the better team but again gave ourselves a mountain to climb. The goals came from three mistakes.”

Brackley Town Saints ran riot over Burnham at St James Park with an 8-0 hammering of The Blues in the league on Saturday.

A goal from Kris Oti gave Brackley the lead inside seven minutes but Burnham remained in the game until the 71st minute when they conceded three times in as many minutes. The goals came from Lewis Baldwin, Ryan Knight and Joe Ward.

Josh Bowden and Alex Scott both scored twice in the final 10 minutes to heap misery on The Blues.

Paris moaned: “We were doing well at 1-0 down but again a mistake led to the goal.

“We were the better team for 25 minutes of the second half but then had a player sent off, but in no way was it a sending off.

“Then we just collapsed with nine players and Brackley helped themselves.”

Burnham make the short journey to 10th placed Windsor this Saturday (3pm) and Paris wants his team to fight for points at Stag Meadow.

He said: “Windsor were on a good run of nine wins, but it was always going to be very difficult because they’re a very good team.

“Windsor are a very good team with experienced players so it will be a tough game, but we will be fighting for some points.

“Anyone who is towards the bottom of the table would be underdogs. Windsor will be the favourites but we will be looking to cause an upset.”
