BURNHAM have been deducted three points by the Hellenic League after fielding an un-registered player in the match against Lydney Town on Saturday, December 2.

Ziel Browne was not registered to The Blues in time for the fixture and the club have been deducted three points as per competition rules. Browne was also cautioned in the match.

A club official informed the league of their mistake but boss Alan Paris knows it is a costly three points lost in their battle against relegation.

Paris told the Observer: "It was just an admin error. It's disappointing because we worked hard for the points and now they've been taken away from us.

"There's nothing we can do about it now so we will have to just concentrate on winning matches and picking up points."

Burnham managed a 1-1 draw away at leaders Highworth Town on Saturday despite losing keeper Kyle Bradley to a broken jaw in the first half.

The Blues are now bottom of the Premier Division table with 10 matches still to play this season, starting with a visit to The Gore from Royal Wootton Bassett on Saturday, January 27 (3pm).
