SLOUGH Town supporters will have the opportunity to pay their respects to Kevin McGoldrick at his funeral service at St Raphael's Church in Yeading on Friday, February 9.

The much-loved physiotherapist, known as Super Kev, lost his brave battle with cancer on January 17.

Well-wishers have since raised over £6,000 to help fund funeral expenses and there will be a celebration of his life at Arbour Park on February 9.

A statement from the McGoldrick family read: "We would like to take this opportunity to thank you all from the bottom of our hearts for your generosity and kind words about the passing of our beloved hero.

"A man who really was the best. The most humble, selfless and caring individual you could ever care to meet.

"The last few months have been so hard for us all and it is a true testament to the person Dad was that he was continuing his role at Slough Town up until New Year’s Day.

"He would just keep telling us about the amount of people who relied on him and the responsibilities he had.

"This is our responsibility now, to show him just how grateful we all are for having him in our lives.

"Kev clearly meant so much to so many and we would love to be able to accommodate you all at the funeral."

The Church service will take place at midday on February 9 at St Raphael's Church (Morrison Road, Yeading, Middlesex, UB4 9JP) There is a private burial for family and invited guests between 2.15-2.30pm.

Private burial for family and invited guests 14:15-14:30.

The celebration of his life will take place from 3.30pm at Arbour Park (Stoke Road, Slough, Berkshire , SL2 5AY) The statement added: "Kev would be so embarrassed by all of the thanks, kind words and money that has been shared in the last week.

"As you probably know he would never accept any of this if he was here today. That is why doing this is important - so we can finally give something back.

"It has really has been a comfort to us reading your lovely messages. We will respond to them all, there have just been so many we do not know where to start.

"The JustGiving page has astounded us. It absolutely relieves the financial implications of planning a funeral, so thank you.

"Kev absolutely was ‘Mr Slough Town’ and the club have been utterly amazing in their ongoing love and support in the past few weeks.

"Players and management have gone above and beyond for us as a family, receiving calls and texts at all hours without hesitation.

"We know, more than ever what Dad saw in you all and as a thanks to Slough Town we ask that everyone wears Slough Town football shirts or amber/navy colours on the day.

"If you would like to purchase a replica shirt please visit the Club Shop at Arbour Park this Saturday or next Tuesday.

"If you live further away, do not have a shirt and would like one for this occasion, please contact the club by email (shop@sloughtownfc.net).

"Wherever Dad is we will continue to try to make him smile, to make him proud of the people we strive to be, and we will start this with the day we have planned.

"Due to the number of people expected we are suggesting that close family can buy flowers, or we will be taking donations for the Maggie's Centres - an unsung charity who are super helpful in managing the implications and paperwork regarding a cancer diagnosis.

"We look forward to sharing our memories of our beloved Super Kev. Until then, let's all follow in his footsteps.

"If the world had more people like him, my goodness it would be a much better place."
