SLOUGH Town suffered a first defeat in 10 matches in all competitions after a 3-0 loss away at Tiverton Town on Saturday.

The first half remained goalless at Ladysmead, but Tiverton substitutes Callum Hall and Tom Bath changed the game after the break.

Two goals from Hall and a Bath strike secured the points for the home team.

Slough joint-manager Neil Baker told the Observer: “We said before the match it would not be a game where you could pass the ball. It was a case where you just had to keep on turning defenders and they would make mistakes.

“We did that in the first half and looked the more likely to score, but in the second half we came out and were sloppy. We got caught on the ball and only cleared their back four once in the whole 45 minutes.

“We just didn’t get going and there were two or three mistakes. You could say some of it was down to the pitch but it was the same for Tiverton and they didn’t make any mistakes in the second half.

“We would have taken a 0-0 draw there on Saturday because of how it was but it wasn’t to be.

“We let the players off a little bit on Saturday. Jon Underwood and I decided that we were not going to start shouting and screaming because sometimes you just need to reflect and have a think about what you want to say.

“We told them on Tuesday and in no uncertain terms that we were unhappy but decided on Saturday to leave it and have a think about it, and see what reaction we got.”

Slough welcome Banbury United to Arbour Park this Saturday (3pm), before travelling to Biggleswade United on Tuesday (7.45pm).
