RODNEY White believes Phoenix Old Boys showed great discipline in a 2-0 win against Maidenhead Nomads at Desborough Park on Sunday.

Goals from Jack Tyson and Toby Crouch either side of the break secured all three points for the Old Boys.

Phoenix remain second from bottom in the Division One table but now just two points behind Maidenhead in seventh position.

White stood in as manager for regular boss Lee Wallace and told the Observer: “We absolutely deserved to win and it was a good victory for the lads.

“It was a very difficult game but the lads showed great discipline on a tough pitch that was boggy in the middle.

“It was quite a physical match and we’ve got a young bunch of lads but they handled it well. We were by far the better team but Maidenhead will probably say different.”

White continued: “Hopefully we’ve turned a corner now because we had been playing great football but could not get a win.

“We’ve got two wins on the bounce now and hopefully we can string further results together.

Slough Observer:

“If we can continue this run of form then I think we can finish in a half-decent position. The lads are raring to go and the average age is only 23 or 24.

“This is our first season in Division One because we were in Division Two last year. FC Bentons and Real Milan are a league above anyone so no-one else has got a chance.

“But, we’ve been holding our own this season and only losing by the odd goal.”

Phoenix welcome sixth-placed Microblast 17 to Farnham Park this Sunday (10.30am) looking to reverse a 5-3 defeat earlier in the season.
