Slough are two steps nearer to being crowned the Middx, Berks, Bucks & Oxon Regional One champions.

They hammered Ashford 7-2 on Saturday and followed up on Sunday with an even better 11-4 thrashing of Milton Keynes 2s.

This tremendous double takes them four points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand over their main title rivals.

Rai ‘Sunny’ Singh netted a total of eight goals and he is now the division’s highest scorer with 30 for the season.

He bagged a hat-trick at Ashford, with Bobby Bansal scoring twice, Inder Dagger and Kuli Matharu one apiece.

Trailing 3-0 from an early stage, the hosts hit back with goals from Shujah Rehman and Adam Wilkins either side of half-time, but Slough continued to press hard and added four more goals to put the issue beyond doubt.

Sunday’s home game against Milton Keynes 2s was their twice rearranged fixture. The visitors, who are in the thick of a relegation battle, were keen to make their mark on the match and opened up a 3-1 lead.

The Pink and Blacks now realised they had a game on their hands, so they upped the tempo and went on a goal spree led by their two leading scorers.

Singh finished with an impressive five-goal haul, while Johannes Klöse bagged four goals in a match for the third time in a month, giving him 25 for the season so far, with Bansal adding the other two.

Milton Keynes added a late fourth goal, their marksmen on the day being David Breuilly, Toby King, Will Luther and Grant Webster.

Slough will be looking to keep their good run going when they host sixth-placed Oxford at Upton Court Park on Saturday (10.30am).

They will be seeking a double, having won the away fixture 3-0 last November.
