BURNHAM Football Club have that confirmed Nash Bashir, Tristan Lewis and Glenn Skivington will take over from Malcolm Higton, Rod Saunders and Michael Boxall.

Club President, Higton, Vice Chairman and Treasurer, Saunders, plus Secretary, Boxall, are retiring from their positions at The Gore.

Writing in his matchday programme notes on Saturday, Saunders said: "We've been trying to find suitable replacements to take the club forward for the past few years without a great deal of success, wanting to ensure the future well-being of this club.

"We've had a number of 'opportunists' expressing an interest but we were determined to find the right people and last autumn by a chance conversation we did.

"I'm pleased to say that we're now handing the reigns over to three local individuals, Nash, Tristan and Glenn, who have exciting new plans for this club and we wish them every success in the future.

"I must pay tribute to my two colleagues, Malcolm and Michael, who are Burnham Football Club through and through.

"Although we leave the club after a recent unsuccessful period on the playing side, we prefer to look at the broader picture with a number of promotions, FA Cup first round proper, FA Vase semi-finals plus the construction of a superb facility for the club amongst others during our tenure.

"So to those who are currently castigating us for the club's position at the moment, just remember the success, and perhaps if you spent your spare time coming forward and helping us at the club rather than just criticising on social media, we might not be in the position we're in.

"However, the club is financially sound and can go forward with the fresh enthusiasm of the new directors."

The trio retire with Burnham finishing bottom in the Hellenic Premier Division and needing a reprieve from The Football Association to avoid relegation into Division One.

The Blues have reached the Hellenic Supplementary Cup final this season and will take on Flackwell Heath at Ardley United this Saturday (3pm).
