CHALVEY Sports Chairman Scott Young has explained that the hard work does not stop at the end of the season.

The Stabmonks retained the Hellenic Division Two East title this season and will be promoted into step six for the 2018/19 campaign - upon confirmation from The Football Association (FA).

Young has already begun preparations for the new season after meeting with potential new sponsors, and he believes Chalvey have the platform to now kick on.

He told the Observer: “There will be a lot of movement this summer because of ground-grading issues, but I can’t see how The FA can turn down promotion for clubs with the facilities to make it happen and we’re happy to be in that bracket now.

“With the facilities on offer at Arbour Park we’ve got the platform to take promotion now and we’re ready to kick on now.

“I’ve been speaking to local businesses about sponsorship and there are lots of different ways for us to afford what we want to achieve.

“We could always do with more matchday volunteers as extra hands will always help.

“I feel like we are ready to go and, so long as they players are committed to us, we will make sure we’re committed to them and that things get done off the pitch.”

He continued: “It will be a different challenge in Division One next season against better sides and with derbies against the likes of Burnham and Holyport.

“We’re going to have to work very hard and are under no illusions that the challenge is going to be huge.

"We're definitely not going up and thinking we we do well. We will have to respect teams and do our best game by game.

"Player retention will be important because we've already got a foundation and winning mentality."
