BURNHAM Football Club was turned Green and White as nine Celtic Supporters Clubs contested the inaugural Jimmy Johnstone six-a-side tournament.

Two groups of four and five respectively were evenly contested and went down to the final games with four teams making it through to the semi-finals.

London (Harrow Bhoys) and Hayes Bhoys progressed into the final where London ran out tournament winners in a thrilling penalty shoot-out after a 1-1 draw at The Gore.

With both sides locked at 3-3 it went to sudden death penalties with the Bhoys from Harrow taking home the trophy.

The Hayes Bhoys did have one consolation for their valiant efforts as Macaulay Caulfield took the Golden Boot as top scorer with seven goals.

The event raised over £1,600 for three charitable causes, research into Breast & Prostate Cancer, Motor Neurone and the Celtic Football Club Foundation - with more pledges still to arrive.

Gary Reeves is secretary at Burnham and organised the event. He told the Observer: “To draw together all local Celtic Supporters to Buckinghamshire was, in truth, an objective of mine and personally a dream come true.

“Hopefully this tournament cane be the dawn of other regular social assemblies of Celtic Supporters Clubs.”
