ROBERT Cowell celebrated an impressive double at Windsor Racecourse on a balmy Bank Holiday Monday.

The Newmarket trainer landed a memorable one-two with Dubai Silk (8-1) and Cowboy Soldier (9-2) after a thrilling day’s racing at the Berkshire track.

Alan King’s Giveaway Chance (11-2) won the opening Sky Bet Top Price Promise Fillies’ Handicap after a thrilling finish to the one mile three furlong 99 yard race.

Jockey Martin Harley put up a strong finish from three furlongs out to beat the Tony Carroll-trained Falcon Cliffs (25-1) into second, with Ralph Beckett’s Frown a close third.

Favourite Seductive Moment (5-4) raced clear to take the six furlong, 12 yard Novice Auction Stakes for trainer Mark Johnston ahead of Andrew Balding’s Oloroso (9-1).

Jockey William Buick ran on well over the final furlong to claim the victory, with Daniel Loughnane’s 33-1 outsider Nananita in third.

Trainer Richard Hannon tasted victory in the next race for two-year-olds with 3-1 shot Urban Icon.

Even Keel (12-1) finished well behind in second for Jonathan Portman with Richard Hughes’ More Than Likely (10-1) third and Mick Channon’s race favourite Quirky Gertie (11/4) fourth.

Joseph Tuite had to settle for second place with favourite Kimifive (11/8) in the Novice Stakes as

Cowell’s Dubai Silk (8-1) took the honours with Pat Dobbs on board.

Cowell then collected his second win in the next race, a handicap qualifier over five furlongs 21 yards, with Cowboy Soldier (9-2).

Jockey Edward Greatrex times his run perfectly to pip Clive Cox’s favourite Koditime (9-4) at the post, with Midsummer Knight (10-3) beaten into third.

Favourite Mordin (5-4) also had to settle for second place for trainer Simon Crisford in the next handicap race over one mile two furlongs, with Charlie Hills’ Plutonian (12-1) securing the victory thanks to a brilliant sprint to the line.

Success in the penultimate race over sic furlongs 12 yards went to the Stuart Williams-trained Daschas (11-2) ahead of 11-1 shot, Wiley Post.

And joint-favourite Simply Breathless (3-1) rounded off another exciting Windsor meeting with victory in the last over one mile.

He was driven clear by jockey Adam Kirby inside the final furlong to beat Gay Kelleway’s Oswald (8-1) into second and Eve Johnson Houghton’s Camomile Lawn (16-1) into third.

Racing returns to Windsor next Monday, with the first race due to start at 5.45pm.
