BURNHAM picked up their first win of the Division Two season with a convincing 98-run thrashing of Shipton under Wychwood.

Opener Rizwan Nadeem led the charge with a fine 82 from 104 balls, and with Obaid Sarwar (36) and captain Fahad Raja (33) also chipping in, the hosts reached a respectable 248-7 in their 50 overs.

Graham Newhook (3-44) was the pick of the Oxfordshire side’s bowling attack.

Shipton – who had been bowled out for just 52 by Wokingham the week before – started well and reached 45 before Craig Wood was caught by Tahir Amin off the bowling of Mudassar Nawaz.

However, no visiting batsman could really get going – Ben Norgrove top scoring with 29 – and Farhaan Khan (3-23) and Sulaiman Javed (3-26) worked their way through the middle order as Shipton were knocked over for 150.

Burnham visit Wokingham tomorrow (Saturday).

Datchet CC

Datchet were beaten for the first time in 2018 as Great & Little Tew eased to a seven-wicket success.

Only Ollie Birts (37) and Jarydd Wallace (20) reached 20 as the home side were knocked over for a mere 126, and despite reducing Tew to 41-3, an unbroken stand of 86 between Lloyd Brock (46no) and Joe White (35no) saw them home with almost eight overs to spare.

Datchet travel to Buckingham Town this Saturday.

Slough CC

In Division One, Slough moved up to second in the table after a tense three-wicket success at Thame Town.

Skipper Bobby Sher (4-34) and fellow spinner Ali Raja (2-26) tied down the hosts’ batsmen as they limped to 175-9 in 50 overs.

Fahim Qureshi (67) and Sher (47) put on 100 for the first wicket, and despite a middle-order collapse, Slough edged home with 10 balls in hand.

Slough host third-placed Aston Rowant this Saturday.

The club also had a successful Bank Holiday Monday, qualifying for the Finals Day of the league’s T20 competition.

Amersham conceded their last 16 encounter, and Slough then held their nerve to squeeze past hosts Finchampstead by two runs.

Slough were in all sorts of trouble at 42-5 as Rehan Akram (4-17) ripped through the top order, but a stunning 67 not out from only 50 balls from Naveed Akhtar helped them to 148-8.

Finch also had a dreadful start as Ikhlaq Nawaz (2-24) helped reduce them to 13-3, before skipper Dan Lincoln and Ryan Quinn (33) put their side in control.

However, needing just seven from the final over, Lincoln (64no) was stranded at the non-striker’s end and Finchampstead came up just a couple short.

Slough will be joined at Finals Day at Harefield on July 22 by Henley, High Wycombe, and the winner of the game between Chesham and Great & Little Tew, unless Aston Rowant launch a successful appeal after being kicked out of the competition for fielding an ineligible player in their 63-run victory against Chesham.

Calum Edgar claimed 3-50 in Division 3b of the Thames Valley League, but it was not enough to help Datchet 2nds (177) losing to Tring Park 2nds (218-9) by 41 runs.

Burnham 2nds (131) were also on the receiving end as they lost by six wickets to Kew 2nds (132-4).

Geyhas Khan (107) and Uzair Majid (55) were among the runs for Slough 3rds (232-9 off 45 overs) as they beat Princes Risborough (198-7) by 34 runs.

A stunning 123 from opener Normi Nadeem (123) inspired Burnham 3rds (242-7) to a three-wicket success at home to Kew 3rds (241-6) in Division 5a.

A magnificent unbeaten 119 by Goutham Shrikrishna, aided by 65 not out from Shareth Jetty, helped Slough 4ths (275-2) pull off a huge Division 6a run chase to beat Chiswick & Whitton 2nds (273-6).

In Division 6b, Burnham 4ths (149) never got going as they lost by seven wickets at Finchampstead 4ths (149).

Rhys Williams (63) top scored for Datchet 3rds (146), but they lost by four wickets to Slough 5ths (147-6), Lav Prabhakar the match-winner with an unbeaten 73 in Division 7b.

Datchet 4ths (90) lost by six wickets in Division 8a, Bracknell 2nds (91-4) reaching their paltry target in a mere 18 overs.
