SLOUGH returned to winning form in Division One of the Home Counties Premier Cricket League after a five-wicket victory at Oxford on Saturday.

Oxford won the toss and elected to bat first but they could only reach 180-9 from 64 overs.

Number four Muhammad Ayub top-scored with 64 runs from 105 balls, captain Jamie Perkin added 46 and opener Owyn Tong-Jones made 23.

Sulaiman Akhtar was the pick of the Slough bowling quartet with figures of 4-40 from 19 overs, including the wicket of Perkin.

Muhammad Haroon clean bowled both Ayub and Tong-Jones in his 3-56 from 19 overs, while Ali Akbar Raja claimed 2-38.

The visitors reached 181-5 after 53.3 overs in response and for the win.

Summer signing Conrad Louth top-scored with 73 runs from 124 balls. His innings included eight boundaries and one maximum.

Number two Daniyal Akhtar made 35 and put on 102 runs for the second wicket with Louth, before overseas star Shahid Yousaf finished unbeaten on 36 from 41 balls.

Harvey Eltham trapped both Akhtar and Louth lbw and was the pick of the Oxford bowlers with figures of 3-72 from 20.3 overs.

David Murphy took 1-16 from his eight overs and Shamilal Mendis claimed 1-26 from nine overs.

The win means Slough have moved up to third position in the league table ahead of a visit to Upton Court Road from Berkshire rivals Finchampstead this Saturday (11am start).

Burnham moved out of the relegation spots in Division Two after a winning draw away at mid-table Harefield last weekend.

Burnham won the toss and chose to bat first, the visitors making 254 runs all out from 56.5 overs.

Number five Adnan Shabbir top-scored with 69 runs from 77 balls. His innings included six boundaries and two maximums.

Rizwan Nadeem made 61 runs batting at number three and the pair added 60 runs for the fourth wicket.

Matthew Ogden was the pick of the Harefield bowlers with figures of 3-70. He was backed up by Jordan McLeod (2-30) and Douglas King (2-53).

The home reach reached 168-7 from 53 overs in response and for a share of the spoils.

Number three Michael Barry top-scored with 58 runs and Ogden added 25. The pair put on 71 runs for the second wicket.

Farhaan Habib Khan was the pick of the Burnham bowlers with figures of 4-18 from 14 overs, including the wicket of Ogden.

He was backed up by Adnan Malik (1-42) and Antum Naqvi (1-49).

Burnham return to the Memorial Ground for the visit of sixth-placed Amersham this Saturday.
