THE Langley FC Youth Under-13s reached the quarter-finals when representing Slough at the Aces Nationals tournament in Nottingham.
Langley were in a group of six and progressed into the last-16 by coming second to Portsmouth, who eventually went on to win the competition beating the likes of Southampton, Macclesfield, Oxford and Kent.
Portsmouth were the first opponents and beat them with two set pieces, but the boys soon relaxed and grew into the tournament.
It was difficult to lose your first game against the eventual winners but Langley showed great character not to panic and get some wins under their belts in the other matches, which were 20 minutes long.
Langley beat Wolverhampton on penalties in the last-16 after a 1-1 draw in which the team felt they should have won, but they again held their never and progressed into the quarter-finals.
It was a great achievement to get into the last eight with 40 of the best teams across the country.
Unfortunately the team had played 120 minutes of football by this stage and lost two vital players to injury with others carrying knocks.
Langley lost 1-0 to North London but had chances to win the game only for the keeper to deny them with three fantastic saves.
