SLOUGH have seen their lead at the top of Division One cut to eight points after a losing draw away at Aston Rowant on Saturday.

Slough won the toss and invited Aston Rowant to bat first at Main Ground, the home side declaring on 301-4 off 61 overs.

Number four Christopher Watling top-scored with 121 runs from 156 balls. His third career century and first of the season included 14 boundaries and one maximum.

Leo Bethell made 104 runs from 121 balls batting at number three, including 14 boundaries and three maximums.

The pair put on 215 runs for the third wickets as Aston Rowant recovered from 52-2.

Fit-again Ikhlaq Nawaz was the pick of the seven Slough bowlers used with figures of 3-41 from 13 overs. The other wicket fell to Muhammad Haroon (1-69).

Slough received one penalty point for their slow over rate.

The visitors reached 241-5 off 59 overs in response and for their first draw in 14 league matches this season.

Number five Shaan Khan carried his bat through for an unbeaten 85 from 101 balls, which included 13 boundaries and one maximum. It is high second-half century of the summer.

Conrad Louth made 51 runs from 71 balls for a sixth half-century this season, and he put on 52 for the second wicket with Daniyal Akhtar (29).

Captain Bobby Sher then joined Shaan at the crease and the pair managed 63 runs for the fourth wicket.

Daniel Moriarty was the best of the Aston Rowant bowling attack with figures of 2-54 from 17 overs. The other wickets fell to Wesley Morrick (2-77).

The draw means Slough remain at the top of the league table with four matches reaming this season, starting with a visit to Upton Court Park from second-bottom Oxford this Saturday (11am start).
