WINDSOR, Slough, Eton and Hounslow athletes impressed at the Under 17/U15 Championships at Bedford.

Rachel Okoro took bronze in the U15 triple jump with a leap of 11.27m, while in the U17 100m, Ayoola Babalola matched her efforts by running 12.19secs.

Josh Pearson looked set for a medal in the U17 400m, winning his heat in 50.72secs, but he had to settle for fourth place in the final with a slower time of 50.94secs.

Klaudia Walas (10.86m) was sixth in the U17 triple jump, while Carys Ward came sixth in the U15 javelin with a throw of 35.40m.

Kate Beadle (5.02m) was seventh in the U17 long jump, Francesca Williams (51.35m) was eighth in the hammer, and Liliana Burn (38.70m) repeated that in the U15 version.

Ellie Cleveland went out in the heats of the U17 200m in 27.53secs, while Marvin Tchangua’s came ninth in the U17 800m in 2:07.1secs.

In the British Masters Championships in Birmingham, WSEH’s veteran athletes starred with Barbara Norris (15.14m) and Janet Smith (12.93) coming first and second in the W50 heavy weight throw.

Norris went on to win the Shot with 10.47m, with Smith fourth with 8.65m.

The chance of a trio of gold medals for Norris was lost when she failed to record a valid throw in the hammer, although this opened the way for Smith to grab first place with a season’s best throw of 43.97m.

Neil Griffin was in good form in the M70 shot and discus, taking the gold awards with 11.62m and 39.52m respectively.

Another gold went to Chris Mills (4.10m) in the M40 pole vault, while Rod Davies (4.14m) was just out of the medals in the M60 long jump.

Further medals came on the track with Michael Louise securing bronzes in the M35 100m(11.41s) and 110m hurdles (15.27s).

Other runners included Seriasha Childs, who came fifth in the W35 100m in a time of 11.54s, and Davies (14.78s), who was sixth in the M60 100m.

  •  STJOHN Ford recorded the fastest time of the eight Maidenehad AC runners who took part in the inaugural Beeches 5k.

He completed the course in StJohn Ford 24m 21secs and was followed by Peter Oldham (26:08), Pauline Siddons (28:07), Jeanette Sanderson (28:37), Dave Waterman (28:43), Steve Overbury (32:20), Meggie Cumini (32:21) and Marika Karavan (34:11).

Abbie Jones ran a personal best time of 1m 02.37secs in the 400m at the Watford Open, lowering her own club record.
