LANGLEY Galaxy have set their sights on winning the Division One title and the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Cup this season.

Galaxy got their Intermediate Cup campaign under way with a 3-1 win against Morale Madrid thanks to goals from Lewis Hewitt, Callum Hughes and Ben White.

The Langley squad was strengthened over the summer to challenge on both fronts and their fresh legs proved to be the difference on Sunday.

Scott Bright is the manager at Langley Galaxy and he told the Observer: “We knew Morale Madrid had to be half-decent because they took Real Milan all the way to penalties last season.

“They’re a big and organised side but turned up with only 11 players, wo we knew they would tire eventually.

“We went into half-time level at 1-1 but they didn’t deserve it because we conceded a sloppy goal.

“We got the ball down in the second-half and played out wide, which is where our strength is.

“We won a penalty to take the lead and then killed the game off by pressing high up the pitch with some fresh legs.

“We’ve strengthened massively over the summer and are looking to go as far as we can in every competition.

“We won the county Junior Cup last season so the next step is to win the Intermediate Cup, the other cups are a bonus.”

He continued: “You’ve got the usual top four in the league including Bentons, Real Milan, Datchet Village and ourselves, but Singh Sabha are back this year and will be up there as well.

“You’ve still got to beat Bentons if you want to win the league, they’re the favourites.

“We had two big games with them last season and held them to two draws, but we should have beaten then on each occasion.”
