SIX Reading FC first team players are on international duty including a first Ivory Coast up for in-form Yakou Meite.

The 22-year-old striker has been included in his country’s latest squad after hitting red-hot form.

His brace against Ipswich Town on Saturday took his tally to six goals in five games and did not go unnoticed by his national coaches.

Meite, who has represented Ivory Coast from Under 17 to 23 level, is now hoping to win his first senior cap when Les Elephants go to Guinea in an African Cup of Nationals qualifier this Sunday.

Royals full-back Chris Gunter could become Wales’ most capped player over the next week.

The 29-year-old has made 91 appearances for his country – one short of record-holder Neville Southall.

But Gunter could surpass the legendary Wales and Everton keeper if he features in Wales’ UEFA Nations League clash against Denmark in Cardiff this Friday plus their friendly in Albania next Tuesday.

Leandro Bacuna is in the Curacao squad for A CONCACAF National League home fixture against Guadeloupe on Monday.

Andy Yiadom will attempt to lift Ghana to the top of their African Cup of Nations qualifying group when they travel to Ethiopia this Sunday.

David Meyler has seen little pitch-time with Royals recently, but the midfielder has made the Republic of Ireland squad for a home friendly against Northern Ireland tomorrow followed by a vital UEFA Nations League clash in Denmark on Monday.

Goalkeeper Anssi Jaakkola has been called up by Finland for UEFA Nations League games away to Greece tomorrow and Hungary on Sunday.

Three Reading Academy players are also on international duty including Danny Loader.

The 18-year-old striker is in the England squad ahead of three Under 19 European Championship qualifiers.

He scored in a 4-0 win over Moldova today and will then face Iceland this Saturday and Turkey next Tuesday.

Striker Ben House and defender Tom McIntyre have made the Scotland U20 squad for a friendly against Turkey this Saturday.
