LONDON Irish head coach Les Kiss was pleased with his side's 35-7 victory in their opening Championship Cup Group Two clash at Hartpury.

Two tries from hooker Saia Fainga’a along with scores from skipper Brendan McKibbin, Danny Hobbs-Awoyemi and Tom Fowlie earned Exiles a bonus-point, with Stephen Myler landing five conversions from five.

And Kiss said: "It was a good scoreline. There was only one try against us which was a breakaway.

"Overall we're happy, the conditions came in and made the ball like a bar of soap and underfoot it was tough in the first half so there were errors from both teams.

"But once we managed the ball a bit better and managed to get the field position, every time we got in their 22 we got a massive return out of it either through the maul try or continuous phases.

"Danny scored a nice try and Tom hit a nice line at the end and that was really pleasing."

London Irish has today announced the signing of Terrence Hepetema into the club’s first team squad.

The 26-year-old Brent-born centre has Premiership and Super Rugby experience under his belt and director of rugby Declan Kidney says that he will give the squad added depth.

“Terrence is a good player and will add to our options in the backs,” he said. “He’s got experience of playing in Australia, New Zealand and here in England and we believe he’s got plenty of potential to improve.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming Terrence to Hazelwood.”
