SLOUGH Wrestling Club have returned home from the Best of Junior British Wrestling competition in Peterborough with 16 medals.

Their haul includes seven gold, three silver and six bronze awards, plus it is the most medals won from all the clubs that competed.

Nearly 200 wrestlers from all across the United Kingdom, Canada and Ireland descended upon the Bushfield Leisure Centre in Peterborough vying to become British Wrestling Champions.

All competitors had a nervous weigh-in, hoping they did not exceed their weight category, and Slough Wrestling Club were ready to do battle on the mat.

Tears, sweat, blood, courage, hard work and months of focused training all culminated to this day.

The champions have now reached the highest accolade in Britain and set themselves on a path to compete on the international stage.

The seven gold-medal winners for Slough are; Simarpreet Kaur (31kg), Jaap Kaur (38kg), George Watson (32kg), Gurjot Hothi (60kg), Yahiya Abdullah (92kg), Saroop Bal (79kg) and Ahmed Safi (64kg).

Silver medals went to Manpreet Kaur (52kg), Jeevan Khera (35.5kg) and Aebram Hanifi (48kg).

Club members that won bronze medals include Jaspreet Khera (38kg), Jamie Sahota (26.5kg), Ilyas Chaudhery (28.5kg), Dylan Nijhar (30.5kg), Daleep Singh (34kg) and Hewad Hanifi (69kg).
