BEN Livesey has won the 2019 Cliveden Cross Country in a new course record time of 34 minutes and 47 seconds on Sunday, writes Rob Stevens.

Livesey, from RAF Athletics, led home a field of 625 runners and beat Datchet Dashers member James Samson (35.30) by 43 seconds, with Matthew Davenport from Maidenhead Athletics Club (AC) in completing the podium positions in 37.00.

Members of Datchet Dashers were well to the fore with Rob Baylis in fourth place with 37.16, David Lee fifth with 37.26, Chris Bradfield seventh with 37.32 and Robert Mcharg 10th with 39.13.

Jon Regan of Maidenhead AC also finished in the top 10 (ninth position) when stopping the clock at 38.57.

Tim Hobin was the first member from Wycombe Phoenix Harriers & Athletics Club to reach the finish in 11th place with 39.25.

Representing Chiltern Harries AC was Mark Ferguson in 12th position with 39.27, Ross Jarman in 14th with 39.44 and Aran Davidson in 19th place with 40.01.

Edwina Mcdowall from the Headington Road Runners won the women's race in 43.27.

She was over a minute ahead of runner-up Laura Street, from Wycombe Phoenix Harriers & AC, who crossed the line in 44.49, while Rhian Martin took third position in 45.22.

Claire Pusey from the Burnham Joggers was the fourth women across the finish line with a time of 45.26, while Elly Maggs of Maidenhead AC finished in sixth place on 46.30.

Stephanie Muzzell represented the Datchet Dashers and came home in eighth place with 47.33,before Ellen Esten of Maidenhead AC finished in 48.27 for 13th position.

Emma Twomey (16th, 48.46) and Alison Jessop (19th, 48.52) ran well for the Datchet Dashers,while Margaret Maton crossed the line in 49.26.

Hannah Gibbins (24th position)finished in 49.48 for the Marlow Striders

"Our special congratulations go to Ben Livesey who won the men's race with a new course record of 34 minutes and 47 seconds, and to Edwina Mcdowall who won the ladies race in a time of 43.27.

"We would also like to thank Mark Bradshaw and his team at the National Trust for making this iconic event possible again. It was a great way to start the New Year.

"We're now looking forward to hosting the much-loved Beaconsfield five-mile trail run at the Hall Barn Estate on Easter Monday.
