LANGLEY Hornets and S4K Wolves competed in an epic final for the Thames Valley Football Development League Under-11 Vase on Sunday.

The match began with

Langley

grabbing an early goal to take the lead but, following that, there were few chances for either side during the rest of the first half.

The second period was much more eventful.

S4K

strove forward, seeking the equaliser, and created a number of good shooting chances.

Langley defended stoutly however and were able to launch a couple of counter-attacks. The S4K keeper pulled off a couple of excellent saves to keep his side in the match.

As the clock ticked down towards full-time, S4K threw caution to the wind and launched all out attacks on the Langley goal.

A goalmouth scramble was eventually cleared by the Langley defence, but the ball was soon back in the box and S4K were able to score with just seconds left on the clock.

The game went to penalties and S4K won 2-1 thanks to two excellent saves from their keeper.

TAPLOW United lifted the U12 Subsidiary Cup in an entertaining final against Langley.

Langley pressed right from the whistle and had a shot on goal within the first 20 seconds.

Their pressured paid off eventually when a cross into the box was slotted home.

Taplow did not panic however and they began to create chances of their own. A well-hit shot was pushed over the bar by the stand-in keeper.

A cross into the box was headed home and the scores were level at 1-1 20 minutes into the half.

Taplow scored a second goal soon after and then added a further two just before half-time.

There were fewer chances in the second half although Langley pulled a goal back.

They continued to create chances and the Taplow keeper pulled off a brilliant save to palm a free-kick onto the post and out for a corner.
