SLOUGH could not build on their first win this season in Division One of the Home Counties Premier Cricket League after a six wicket defeat at Henley on Saturday.

won the coin toss and elected to bat first, the visitors reaching 217-9 from their allotted 50 overs.

Number three Saif Zaib top scored with 81 runs from 93 balls, with nine boundaries and two maximum hits. It is his first half-century of the season and takes his average up to 41.75.

Harish Kakani made 39 from 62 batting at number five, and he and Zaib put on 81 runs for the fourth wicket.

Tom Scriven was the pick of the Henley bowlers with his figures of 2-23 from nine overs, including the wicket of opening batsman Nabil Shah for six.

Ali Akbar Raja claimed the wicket of Slough captain Goutham Shrikrishna for 12 in his 2-34 from nine overs, while Matthew Rowe took 2-41 from eight overs.

The home team reached 218-4 from 43.4 overs in response to maintain their perfect winning record so far this season.

Number four Richard Morris carried his bat through for an unbeaten 62 runs from 78 balls, with five boundaries and one maximum hit.

Opening batsman Rowe made 46 from 60, and he and Jack Davies (28) put on 67 runs for the second wicket.

Euan Woods, batting at number six, carried his bat through for an unbeaten 46 from 56 balls, and he and Morris added 63 runs in an unbeaten fifth-wicket partnership.

Ikhlaq Nawaz was the best of the Slough bowlers with his figures of 1-25 from 10 overs. Kakani claimed 1-36 from 10 overs and Girinath Reddy Poreddy 1-48 from 7.4 overs.

The defeat means Slough have been beaten in three of their opening four matches and have dropped into the relegation spots ahead of a visit from Aston Rowant this Saturday (11.30am).
