BURNHAM suffered consecutive home defeats in Division Two of the Home Counties Premier League after a six-wicket loss to Wokingham on Saturday.

Burnham

were beaten in an all-Buckinghamshire derby against Amersham four weeks earlier and this most recent defeat sees them drop one place to fifth position in the table as the season reaches its halfway point.

Wokingham won the coin toss and elected to field first at The Memorial Ground, with the home side reaching 219-8 from 58 overs.

Opening batsman Nehman Nadeem and captain Rizwan Nadeem, batting at number three, were the leading runs scorers with 35 from 52 and 76 balls respectively. The latter put on 55 runs in partnership with Karan Kumar (27) for the fourth wicket.

Simon Myles was the pick of the Wokingham bowlers with his figures of 4-46 from 11 overs, which included the wicket of Hamza Afzaal for a second ball duck.

The visitors reached 221-4 from 47.2 overs in response for their fifth win of the summer and to leapfrog Burnham in the table.

Number three Danny Housego carried his bat through for an unbeaten 75 at a run a ball, including 10 boundaries and one maximum hit. It is his third half-century of the season and increases his average to 44.00.

Captain and opening batsman Stuart Parsons made 55 runs from 62 balls, including eight boundaries and one maximum, for a second half-century of the summer.

Parsons and fellow opener Archie Carter (41) put on 87 runs for the first wicket, before Housego and Myles (30) added 74 in a third-wicket partnership.

The best of the Burnham bowling attack was Raza Ali Dar, who returned figures of 3-75 from 18 overs. The other wicket fell to Farhaan Khan (1-74 from 15.2 overs).

Burnham remain at The Memorial Ground for the visit of promotion-chasing Thame Town this Saturday (11.30am start).

Chesham are still looking for a first win on the road this season following a seven-wicket defeat at Harefield last weekend.

Harefield won the toss and chose to field first, with the visitors making 196 runs all out from 54.2 overs.

Captain and opening batsman Matthew Rance was the leading runs scorer with 82 from 122 balls, including nine boundaries. It is his highest score of the summer and takes his average to 42.55.

Rance and Andy Goddard (41) put on 106 runs for the third wicket.

Daniel Ogden was the chief destroyer for Harefield with his figures of 6-46 from 13.2 overs, which included the wickets of both Josh Drage and Ashley Turney for a golden duck.

It is the first time Ogden has taken five or more wickets in a match since 2015 and lowers his average for the season to 16.33.

The home side reached 200-3 from 35.3 overs in response for a sixth win from nine matches this summer and to remain in third position in the table.

Opening batsman Ogden top-scored with 95 runs from 104 balls, including 13 boundaries and one maximum hit, for a fourth half-century of the season and a new average of 55.78.

Number four Michael Barry carried his bat through for an unbeaten 63 runs from 44 balls, including nine boundaries. It is his third half-century of the summer and takes his average to 73.50.

Ogden and fellow opener Nakul Hirani (11) put on 52 for the first wicket, before the leading runs scorer and Barry added 90 runs in a third-wicket stand.

bowlers with his figures of 2-44 from 11 overs.

The defeat means Chesham have dropped two places to sixth position in the league table ahead of a short trip to rivals Amersham this Saturday.
