SLOUGH are now five matches without a win in Division One of the Home Counties Premier League after a draw at Buckingham Town on Saturday, writes Rob Stevens.

The

Upton Court Park-based side

have not won since the success over Aston Rowant last month, with two draws and three defeats, and have now dropped to the bottom of the table.

Buckingham won the coin toss and elected to bat first at Bourton Road, the home side reaching 276-4 declared from 60 overs.

Opening batsman Leigh Tomlinson was the leading runs scorer with 77 from 158 balls, including six boundaries. It is his fourth half-century of the season and the 25th of his career, taking his average for the summer to 35.86.

Jonathan Cater, batting at number four, made 70 from 47 balls with 11 boundaries and two maximum hits, for a seventh half-century of the campaign and a new average of 40.65.

Number five Robert Large carried his bat through for an unbeaten 58 from 28 balls, including six boundaries and three maximum hits. It is second half-century of the season and takes his average to 32.13.

Tomlinson and Adam King (22) put on 69 for the first wicket, before Cater joined the opening batsman at the crease for a third-wicket stand of 70 runs.

Harish Kakani led the

Slough

bowling attack with his figures of 3-64 from 13 overs, which includes the wicket of Tomlinson and Cater. The other wicket fell to Rishi Sharath with 1-67 from 11 overs.

The visitors managed 239-4 from 60 overs in response for consecutive away draws.

Number four Kakani top-scored with 104 runs from 138 balls, including 15 boundaries. It is the first century of his career and takes his average for the season to 27.90.

Nabeel Janed, batting at number five, remained unbeaten at the crease on 60 from 43 balls, with 10 boundaries, for a third half-century this summer and a new average of 47.80.

Opening batsman Daniyal Akhtar (43) and Kakani put on 127 runs for the third wicket as Slough recovered from 6-2 to 133-3. Kakani and Janed then added 54 for the fourth wicket, before an unbeaten partnership of 52 runs between Janed and Nabil Shah (21*).

Tharindu Rathnayaka was the pick of the Buckingham bowlers with his figures of 2-69 from 20 overs, including five maidens and the wicket of Kakani.

Slough now prop up the league table but there is just 10 points between them and Aston Rowant in seventh position, before a visit to Upton Court Road from High Wycombe this Saturday (11am start).
