SLOUGH Town recorded a first win during their pre-season campaign after a 2-0 victory against Hayes & Yeading United on Saturday.

The Rebels joint-manager

Jon Underwood expected results to improve

and goals from Ben Harris and

summer signing Ryan Bird

ensured the win at the SkyEx Community Stadium.

The visitors had the chance to break the deadlock when Warren Harris was brought down inside the box after 40 minutes. Ben Harris sent keeper Andrew McCorkall the wrong way to convert the penalty kick.

Their second goal came in injury time at the end of the match as Daniel Roberts, a half-time substitute, crossed into the box from the left and Bird met the ball with a diving header to beat McCorkall.

Roberts has had an impressive pre-season and he came close to scoring on 71 minutes when an effort beat McCorkall, but the ball hit the post and bounced across the goal line.

Slough continue their pre-season preparations with a visit to Arbour Park from Hartley Wintney this Saturday (1pm), before a trip to Beaconsfield Town next Monday (7.45pm).

  • SLOUGH Town have signed Joe Grant after a successful trial in pre-season.

Grant featured as a youngster for the Rebels in the Southern League and the clubs have kept tabs on him at Bracknell Town, believing he has now developed into a strong and hard-working player.

He suffered an ankle injury during the 2-0 win against Hayes & Yeading in a friendly match on Saturday and could be out for a couple of weeks.

  • SLOUGH Town are holding an open training session at Arbour Park between 7.30-8.30pm on Thursday.

The bar and kitchen will be open from 7.30-9.30pm, and the Club Shop will be open for supporters to purchase the new away shirt.

Supporters can also collect pre-ordered 2019/20 season tickets or purchase them on the night.

There will be an opportunity to mingle with the players and management at the bar after the game.
