SLOUGH Jets made a winning start to the new season in Division One of the National Ice Hockey League after a 4-1 victory over rivals Bracknell Hornets on Saturday.

The Jets took the lead at The Hangar with a goal from Samuel Talbot in the stanza, before Steven Osman equalised for Bracknell less than two minutes into the second period.

The home team secured the two points in the final stanza thanks to goals from Sean Norris and Harry Harcup plus a powerplay strike from Talbot.

Slough suffered their first defeat of the new season when losing 8-2 at Streatham on Sunday.

An Ivan Antonov brace gave Streatham a clear lead inside five minutes, before Norris pulled a goal back for the Jets.

The home side restored their two-goal advantage before the buzzer with a Rupert Quiney strike and went further ahead when Antonov completed his hat-trick in the second period.

Streatham moved into a 7-1 lead thanks to goals in the final period from Danny Ingoldsby, Scott Bailey and Adam Carr.

Slough bagged a consolation goal through Juha Lindgren, but the victors had the final say when Ingoldsby struck with nine minutes remaining.

The results leave the Jets in fourth position in the league table ahead of a visit to The Hangar from Cardiff Fire this Saturday (5.45pm), before a trip to Invicta Dynamos on Sunday (5.15pm).
