SINGH Sabha conceded a two-goal lead to suffer a 3-2 defeat against FC Bentons in a controversial game in the Berks & Bucks Intermediate Sunday Cup.

Sabha went into the tie having been beaten just once in their previous five matches. It was at the hands of Bentons in late September.

The home team took a deserved lead midway through the first half as Pritpal Raju found the run of Sukh Atwal and he fired home with a curling finish into the top corner giving the keeper no chance.

Singh Sabha doubled their advantage after the break when Mandeep Chahal scored his first club goal in three years with a near post header from a Hassan Mahmood corner kick.

Bentons then brought on Cheyenne Cripps and he made an instant impact. The substitute snatched onto a loose ball after a mistake at the back and crossed for a striker to sneak in and fire home.

The game changed when both sides were reduced to 10 men after an altercation broke out. Sabha saw Riccardo Cannon sent off and Bentons their centre back dismissed.

The visitors levelled the scores in controversial fashion with 15 minutes still to play.

The Sabha keeper jumped to catch a ball but got a nudge from a Bentons player making him drop the ball. The match referee allowed play to continue and Cripps eventually bundled in the ball as Sabha protested.

The tie appeared to be heading to penalty kicks but Bentons showed their winning mentality late on. Another free-kick into the box outdone the Singh Sabha defence and the unmarked Sam Windsor headed home.

The hosts were reduced to nine men late on when Liridon Daka was sent off.
