ASCOT United slumped to a shock 3-1 defeat at the hands of struggling Hanworth Villa on Saturday, their second home loss in five days.

The Yellamen, beaten 2-1 by Molesey earlier in the week, remain top of the Premier Division, but the chasing pack have closed the gap with just four points separating the top six.

Hanworth took the lead in the 58th minute through Scott Walker and four minutes later Meshach Williams doubled his side's advantage.

Having made three substitutions, United worked hard to get back in the game and, after Kai Walters and Aiden Higgs both went close, they pulled a goal back in the 84th minute when James Richardson fired home Jonny Denton’s corner.

Ian Davies missed a good chance to equalise before the visitors wrapped up the win when Mitch Gutteridge slid the ball into his own net in attempting to cut out a cross.

"The only positive is we are still top of the table," said manager Jamie Tompkins.

"If we are to become champions, we will need to be at our best every single week, but it didn't happen for us which is a shame as the boys have worked so hard recently, putting in a massive effort at training."

Ascot now face three games in five days, starting tonight (Wednesday) when they visit Balham in the Cherry Red Records Premier Cup.

Then they face two league games, home to Egham this Saturday and away to Sutton Common Rovers on Monday (7.45pm).

In Division One, Sandhurst Town twice came from behind to draw 2-2 at Chessington & Hook United, although they were disappointed not to have come away with all three points.

Jamie Mitchell and Grant Kemp were the scorers, with George Dawson-Clark their man-of-the-match.

The Fizzers, who were back on the road to Epsom & Ewell last night (Tuesday), visit Ash United this Saturday before hosting Walton & Hersham next Tuesday (7.45pm).

Eversley & California were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Kensington & Ealing Borough.

After going behind in the 22nd minute, Jamie Griggs brought the Boars level by heading home Ross McKernan's cross, only for the visitors to regain the lead with 39 minutes gone.

It was not until the 89th minute when Eversley secured the point they deserved, with Kai Francis heading in a McKernan corner.

They are away to second-placed Farnham Town this Saturday before facing fellow bottom-three side Chessington & Hook at Fox Lane next Tuesday (7.30pm).
