BURNHAM missed the chance to climb into the top five in the Hellenic League Premier Division after a 4-2 defeat at Virginia Water on Tuesday night.

Virginia Water opened a clear lead before the half-time whistle at Stag Meadow with goals from Casey Bocarro and Josh Hill sandwiched between a Jake Baker penalty kick.

The Blues got themselves back into the game in the second half with goals from Kian Duncan and Dean Quevani, but the hosts secured all three points when Baker scored his second 10 minutes from the final whistle.

The defeat means Burnham remain in sixth position in the league table and two points behind Shrivenham in fifth ahead of a short trip to rivals Holmer Green for the all-Bucks derby match this Saturday (3pm).

Holyport completed a hat-trick of wins in Division One East following their 3-0 victory at Long Crendon.

An unfortunate own goal inside the first three minutes gave Port the lead at Court Place Farm and Andy Forisky doubled the advantage before the break.

Long Crendon were unfortunate not to halve the arrears when a shot came back off the crossbar in the second half before the visitors wrapped up the points through Fabian Driffill.

Holyport striker Diffill is the leading goals scorer in the division with 27 for the season. It was also his 80th goal for the club in his 100th appearance.

The win means Port have moved up into fourth position in the league table ahead of the Summerleaze Villager derby match against tenants Langley this Saturday (3pm).

Chalvey Sports consolidated sixth place in the table after a 2-1 victory over Milton United at Arbour Park.

A goal from Jason Marney gave The Stabmonks a narrow lead heading into the break. A strike from man-of-the-match Aydn Coomber doubled the advantage in the second half before Milton pulled one back from the penalty spot inside the last five minutes.

Chalvey return to action with a trip to Kidlington Development next Tuesday (7.45pm).
