A five-a-side team from Slough beat a team of Premier League legends to win £20,000.

Slough Scorpionz won the Ladbrokes Players Cup Final, defeating Glasgow's Barrowfield Bruisers in the final.

Scorpionz then went on to play former Invincibles Lauren and Jérémie Aliadière, two-time Premier League winner William Gallas, and former Premier League players Paddy Kenny and Clinton Morrison in a 'Boss Level' game for the chance to win an extra £8k (£500 for every team) - taking the total prize pot to £33k, a record-breaking cash prize given away at a Powerleague five-a-side tournament.

The 'Boss Level' match finished 6-3 to Scorpionz, while Clinton Morrison was sensationally sent to the sin-bin for a 'headbutt' on referee, Terence Wallen. Victory ensured every team went home with an additional £500 to enjoy.

Alex Apati of Ladbrokes said: "Our five-a-side sensations have proven they can mix it with the best with a convincing win against a handful of Invincibles, Premier League legends and freestyle stars, to the tune of a record-breaking cash prize at a Powerleague tournament."

He added: "Super-subs, sin-bins and surprise appearances; the inaugural Ladbrokes Players Cup has seen it all. The standard of football over the last few months has been nothing short of exceptional and we can't wait to see Slough Scorpionz defend their crown next year."
