WINDSOR, Slough, Eton & Hounslow’s combined men and women’s team lifted the Southern Athletic League trophy on Saturday.

The charge in the ladies’ section was lead by senior athlete, Harriet Jones, who contested both flat sprint races and the 100 metre hurdles and both relays.

In the sprints Jones and Kennedy Bays were victorious, scoring maximum points for the team, while in the hurdles Jones and Amber-Leigh Hall gained a second place and a win.

Under 23 international Amy Holder and Jessica Williams were triumphant in the discus, and Holder gained runners-up slots in both the shot and pole vault.

The middle distance events saw the club’s stalwart seniors, Charlotte Firth, Dani Barnes-Heaney and Becky Atkinson, joined by youngsters Charotte Harris and Juliet Soane, to amass a high points tally. And it was another double victory for Becky Pope and Izzy Rayner in the two kilometre steeplechase.

Across the field events U17 and U20 athletes performed impressively against their senior rivals with Jodie Smith and Bella Pettipher leading the way by winning both strings of the javelin.

Smith partnered Hannah Jones to similarly good effect in the long jump, while Julia Freeman won the B string pole vault and Ellie Chandler and Rachel Melbourne took second place in the hammer and high jump respectively.

The match was rounded off with exciting and successful relays.

Closely fought 4x400 races resulted in runners-up slots for both the men and women, but in the 4x100m, both teams totally outclassed their opposition and had spectators on their feet.
