BURNHAM have confirmed that Lee Ebden only has a voluntary position at the football club just days after announcing he was set to take over as Chairman.

Ebden was named as the new Chairman in a statement on the club's official website on Tuesday.

But, in a bizarre twist, The Blues appear to have gone back on that decision and announced that his only link with the club is 'voluntary suggesting some good players he has access to'.

However, what is confirmed, is the appointment of Alan Paris as new manager after Mark Betts took the decision to stand down from the hot seat.

Burnham suffered a 1-0 home defeat against Thame Rangers in round one the Hellenic League Challenge Cup on Saturday, after which it is believed he quit his post.

The tie at The Gore ended goalless in normal time, but a Dan Mullen strike in the 98th minute send the Division One East club through to the next round.

Paris has had an illustrious career playing for Slough Town, Watford, Peterborough United, Leicester City and Notts County.

Paris took charge of the side for the 2-0 home defeat against Ascot United on Tuesday, which leaves Burnham rooted to the bottom of the Hellenic Premier Division table.

After a goalless first period, Jordan Ajanlekoko broke the deadlock when he rose to plant a firm downward header past keeper Sam Bunting from a Samir Regragui corner, though the hosts will be aggrieved that the decision should have been a goal kick.

Ascot doubled their lead and secured the points on the hour when Mo Davies beat Bunting with a glancing header from another Regragui corner.

Burnham make the journey to fifth-placed Wantage Town this Saturday (3pm).
