Leaders Boreham Wood staged an impressive second-half fightback to beat Altrincham 3-1 and extend their unbeaten start to the National League season.

Goals from Chris Bush, Ben Whitfield and Danny Cashman turned the game around after Jimmy Knowles’ opener to leave the hosts seven points clear at the top of the table.

Knowles put the visitors in front in the 26th minute, latching on to a long ball and rounding goalkeeper Ted Curd before slotting home.

Boreham Wood levelled 11 minutes into the second period when Zak Brunt sent a free-kick over to Charlie O’Connell at the back post and, following a scramble in the area, Bush turned the ball home.

Whitfield put the hosts ahead in the 74th minute, running on to a perfectly-weighted through-ball from Brunt, chopping on to his right foot and powering a finish past goalkeeper Andrew Firth before turning provider to tee up Cashman for an 89th-minute third.
