Reading FC hitman George Puscas shrugged off Neil Warnock’s suggestions that he was “too expensive” after putting Cardiff to the sword on Sunday.

Puscas scored twice and should have added a third as Warnock’s Bluebirds crumbled during a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Jose Gomes’ Reading.

The veteran manager recently admitted he had considered luring Puscas from Inter Milan to South Wales over the summer, but was quoted as saying Puscas was too expensive and “wanted too much”.

Puscas became Reading’s record-breaking summer in an unlikely summer transfer saga which helped Inter Milan sign former Manchester United man Romelu Lukaku.

And he immediately repaid Reading’s faith with a stunning solo strike at Madejski Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

But speaking after the game, the 22-year-old said: “I don’t have to think about other people’s comments. My focus is on the pitch and helping Reading to score goals and win games.

“I’ll let other people do the talking.”
