SLOUGH Under-11s had a cracking day at the Weybridge Spring Minis Rugby Festival on Sunday.
The first time entrants played five games against very stiff opposition. Opening against Battersea, the young Greenies made a slow start with Cody Rumney scoring their only try in a 2-1 defeat.
The team then went on to draw 2-2 against Reigate and 3-3 with Weybridge Vandals, before peaking with a 5-1 win over Weybridge Vandals Red. Rumney, Jake Evans, Mason Simpson, Isaac Sullivan and Alfi Harris all added to the scoresheet.
Slough finished with a 2-0 loss to a strong New Maldon Kings team.
As a Rugby Core Values festival all teams received a trophy. Rumney received the Player of the Day medal and Christopher Boyle the medal for Most Improved Player.
Coach Carl Rumney said the team had done very well in a high standard of rugby.
