ALAN WALTERS believes that there is more improvement to come from Slough despite his side recording a third straight win this season.

The Greenies have maintained their perfect start in the Berks, Bucks & Oxon Premier after 32-24 win away at Milton Keynes on Saturday.

Rhys Amos scored two tries in the victory while Craig Fullicks and Max Miles also touched down. Miles was successful with all three of his conversion attempts as well as two penalty kicks.

The result means Slough are already four points clear at the top of the league table despite claims from Walters that his men have only been playing at 30 per-cent.

The head coach told the Observer: “We’re a very good rugby team, a very good side. We’ve just got to trust ourselves to play to our strengths and the players need to understand they can use the gameplan, which is very strong, whenever they like.

“We’ve only put in 30 per-cent so far, which shows how good the players are, but disappoints me as a coach.

“When we really do get running someone is going to feel the brunt of it.”

Looking back on the win at Milton Keynes, Walters said: “They’re one of the favourites to go up after coming down last season and we started off very cold.

“We were 10-0 down after 15 minutes and have been very cold at the start all season.

“The players need to back themselves and believe in how good they are, and we will play for 80 minutes one of these days.

“We then came back into it and were strong enough to control the game. We went in 15-10 up at half-time.

“We made a disappointing start to the second half . One of our young players received a yellow card for a high tackle but it was not intentional.

“But, then we controlled the game and beat them up. We were the dominant team in the second half and it was one of the performances I’ve seen in my time here.”

Slough play at Milton Keynes again on October 14, this time in the Bucks Cup. Walters said: "The scrum nearly went uncontested because of our dominance, we were knocking them back 5-10 yards every time, so we will need to change that.

"They will be better prepared so we will need to adjust slightly. We never take anything for granted.

"It's good to be confident but at the same time we're aware of what's going on around us, in terms of the league.

We just need to keep on going, keep our heads above the water, and stay strong."
