SLOUGH JETS have been given a boost ahead of the British National League season with the news that netminder Danny Milton has committed to the club for the next 12 months.

Milton rose through the junior ranks at Slough and played an integral part last season, but was unable to prevent Slough finishing bottom of the English Premier Ice Hockey League [EPIHL].

It had looked likely that the netminder was due to move on, but talks proved successful and Milton will remain at The Hanger for the forthcoming season.

Slough general manager, Steve English, said: “Danny is a great prospect and future star, he proved his worthwhile last season with the EPIHL Jets. He will be a great building block for the new Slough Jets.” Although it looked like he was to go elsewhere, Milton is adamant that he wanted to be a part of the Jets once he realised where the club was going.

“Once I realised the plans that are being put in place for the future of the Slough Jets I really wanted to be a part of it.” Meanwhile, Jets have also announced the signings of Alan Green, Andrew Cox and Ellis Sheppard as they bolster their squad for the upcoming season.

Green is a fantastic coup for Slough due to his experience and goal scoring talent that has seen him notch 178 goals in 233 games, as well as 162 assists.

And the goal machine is eager to get back on the ice this season, full of confidence that he can lead the Jets to success.

“‘With both myself and Zoran [Kozic] playing on the same team this season we could tear up the league,” he said. “I’m really looking forwards to stepping onto the Ice this season.” As well as adding firepower up front, the signing of Cox from Oxford City Stars adds much needed experience to the backline.

Cox has amassed over 230 games for various teams including MK Thunder, Oxford Stars and Streatham Redskins, along with games for Edinburgh Capitals in the Elite league, and will bring a wealth of experience to the Hanger.

The future is also bright for Slough Jets after one of their youngsters was sent to America for two weeks training at the Minnesota Advancement Program in conjunction with Elite Junior Hockey Camp.

Lewis English, 14, was selected by the coaches to attend after a string of impressive performances for Slough U14s team last season, where he finished top points scorer and helped the team to the national finals in Sheffield towards the end of the year.
