SLOUGH Jets continued their winning start to the season with a 5-0 victory against The Peterborough Islanders on Saturday.

The Jets have won all five of their National Ice Hockey League South 2 matches and top the table by one point.

Slough took the lead at The Hangar on four minutes when Lewis Tribble slotted home a loose puck.

The goal came against the run of play after Danny Milton stood tall between the pipes and turned away early pressure from The Islanders.

The home side began to settle and Tribble doubled their advantage on 18.16 with a rocket shot into the top corner.

Slough kept up the pressure on the visitors in the second period and made it 3-0 after a tripping call in the 22nd minute.

Zoran Kozic picked out Josh Ealey-Newman with a pin-point pass and the forward unleashed an un-stoppable wrist shot into the top corner.

Kozic then turned provider for Ben Ealey-Newman who made it 4-0 before Nat Darmanin and Andrew Cox were sent to the box.

However, despite the five-on-three disadvantage, Slough hammered the final nail in the Peterborough coffin in the 39th minute.

Forward Jordan Ricketts provided the finish after good work from Calum Heath and Tom Gilheany.

Tempers boiled over in a goalless third period as Jets’ Luke Martin-Digby went toe-to-toe with Leon Groom at 58.32.

Martin-Digby took the honours as Slough secured the win against second-placed Peterborough Islanders.

The Jets travel to bottom club and winless Invicta Mustangs on Saturday (7.15pm face-off).
