A FIREFIGHTER has called for all homes to have carbon monoxide alarms after two residents had to be evacuated from their home on Saturday night.

A fire crew from Slough were called to a property in Asprey Place at around 7pm when a carbon monoxide alarm had been activated.

Firefighters isolated the gas supply and the boiler.

Two people were evacuated from the home and were checked by the ambulance service at the scene.

The ambulance service were called for the patient suspected to be suffering carbon monoxide poisoning. The patient refused any hospital treatment and were left in the care of their family.

Medical staff advised the patient on signs to look out for.

Watch manager James King, from Slough Fire Station, said: "We want everyone to ensure if they have a gas boiler that they have a carbon monoxide alarm.

"It's an odourless gas and you might not notice otherwise.

"The alarms also need to be regularly checked by landlords."

The crew was on the scene for around an hour, using breathing apparatus to make the property safe.

The incident was handed over to National Grid when firefighters left the scene.
