THREE British Champions formed part of a six medal haul for a school at the British Rowing Indoor Championships.

Eight student from The Langley Academy in Langley Road, took part in the championships at the Olympic Velodrome in London, on Saturday, December 12.

Muhammad Tariq led from start to finish to win the Year 7 boys 500m sprint, despite only starting rowing in September.

Sachin Chadda matched his accomplishment in the Year 8 boys 500m sprint, followed onto the podium by Morgan Williams, who won bronze.

Sixth former, Delwyn Rose, was crowned Champion in the junior LTA (leg, trunks and arms) adaptive category, missing the junior record by only five seconds, and finishing sixth in the adult event.

And Morgan’s sister, Cana, equalled her brother by also winning bronze in the Year 8 girls 500m event.

Nigel Weare, director of rowing for The Langley Academy, said: “ This is our best medal haul at the British Indoor Championships.

"We have earned at least one medal in each of the last 4 championships, and I am so proud of our students, who were involved in 15 races, producing 11 personal bests."
